From the brochure to the website: Why digital content behaves differently
Websites are not finished products.
They are systems that continue to evolve
We were tasked with designing an image brochure for a client. The work on it stretched over several months. Especially the imagery led to delays. The specially organized photoshoots with employees were labor-intensive — both organizationally and content-wise.
The entire process requires a lot of coordination, because in the end every person depicted must be pleased with the result. After all, this image will be used for years. Additionally: Printing is expensive. One needs a certain print run so that production is worthwhile, and the brochure should stay in use for a correspondingly long time. Errors cannot be easily corrected later.
Since we mainly implement web projects and rarely take on printing orders, this process was somewhat unusual for us. In dynamic web projects, this problem occurs much less.
A photo shoot in winter with snow? Unfavorable for a flyer — after all, you see it in the summer as well. On a website this is far less critical. If the page goes live in winter, we first use winter images. In summer we'll shoot again and simply swap out the pictures.
That is exactly why we do not see websites as static products, but as dynamic, living processes. With the right planning, content can be adjusted at any time to new situations.
We love to see websites as dynamic, living processes that — with appropriate planning — can evolve in any desired direction
A good website isn't built once. It is built up — and then developed further.
