Who still needs a web agency today?

Nowadays there are many ways to create a website for free or at least for little money.

In the simplest case, you register with one of the many website builders or use an AI tool that promises to build a complete website in a few clicks and in seconds.

For those who want a bit more control, go for the best-known CMS: WordPress. If around 30 % of all websites worldwide are operated with it, it can't be that wrong – that's the obvious assumption.
The installation is feasible with a bit of basic technical understanding. Then activate a few plugins, choose a theme – often free – and the website is up. That can also be done by the boss's son. Or the cousin of an acquaintance.

So why do you need an expensive web agency?

The answer is uncomfortable:
Creating a website is actually easy. Running a functional website is not.

Because creation involves more than technology. And exactly these aspects are regularly overlooked in such setups:

Lack of a strategic foundation

There is no solid target-audience analysis and no clear definition of what function the website should fulfill – sales, image, recruiting or something else.

Mixing of roles

Conception, design, content, technology and decision-making lie with one person. Corrections are missing, assumptions remain untested.

No prioritization

Functions arise from gut feeling. A well-thought-out information architecture is missing.

Technical debt

The website is put together quickly, but not thought through sustainably. Maintainability and extensibility do not play a role.

No clear person responsible

The website runs as a side project. Responsibilities are unclear. The result is stagnation.

The consequences

The problem is not a lack of ability, but a lack of structure.
